Brass players are already familiar with these etudes through their use as a staple in the study repertoire of the trombone. It is often referred to as the aRochut book.a This compilation of fifty-four etudes is taken from the best of the Bordogni vocalises. It has been carefully selected to fit the idiosyncrasies of the horn and is presented in a pedagogical sequence from easiest keys and rhythms to the more difficult. This collection is certain to become standard teaching material to improve the musicianship of hornplayers the world over.
The Melodious Etudes for Horn are based on the vocalises of Marco Bordogni. Thesevocalises are considered to be among the most musically appealing studies in the vocal repertoire. They have been carefully transcribed and arranged to be suitable for use in the study of the horn. Playing lyrical music is a means by which instrumentalists improve their musicianship. In these etudes, the student can work on phrasing, tone quality and musical line. Sonority and richness of tone are key elements in mastering these etudes. This collection combines fifty-four of the most popular Bordogni vocalises and continuously works on these important musical skills. The etudes also contain a wealth of material to build technical facility in a wide variety of keys.   It is hoped that these etudes, as transcribed for horn, will help to improve the expressive playing of horn players everywhere.
